SIA M-11 makes custom furniture for businesses and private clients. The team has fewer than ten people, and the owner handles much of the work himself, from drawings in SketchUp to deliveries and reports.
Vehicle trip logs and fuel reports were part of that workload. He or an employee filled them in by hand. "I wanted to try an AI assistant for the business, but without a complicated setup," he says. "The old way simply took much more time."
A little over a week to find useful tasks
M-11 chose OpenClaw running on a GARMTECH server, with help from GARMTECH support to set it up. The owner then spent a little over a week working out which tasks to give the agent. He sends it requests through Telegram.
Paperwork and tools for SketchUp
The agent now prepares vehicle trip logs and fuel reports and drafts texts. Its work also extends to SketchUp, the software M-11 uses to design furniture. The owner uses it to write small plugins without writing the code himself.
"It is easier and simpler to create new tools without knowing how it technically works," he says. "I still don't know where the limits are."
"I still don't know where the limits are."
Voice commands have become another useful habit. When he has no time to type, the owner asks the agent to add an event to his calendar.
| Task | How M-11 uses the agent |
|---|---|
| Vehicle trip logs and fuel reports | Prepares documents previously filled in by the owner or an employee |
| SketchUp plugins | Writes small plugins at the owner's request |
| Text drafts | Produces draft texts |
| Calendar entries | Adds events from voice requests |
What changed
The owner has not measured the time saved, so there is no percentage reduction to report. He describes the change in how he approaches his work: "I approach work more creatively. Especially when thinking about what to give the agent so that I don't waste my own time."
What other small businesses can take from this
- Start with a recurring task you know well. At M-11, transport paperwork gave the owner a practical starting point.
- Allow time to work out what is useful. M-11's owner spent a little over a week deciding what to hand over to the agent.
- Look at the software you already use. M-11's SketchUp plugins are an example of how an agent can help with a specific task beyond writing texts.
What comes next
M-11 plans to keep developing the agent as an everyday tool. The owner encourages other businesses to start learning how to use agents now and try them on tasks from their own work.
