Choose a domain that remains useful as the business grows

What is the difference between registration and transfer?

Registration creates a new domain record. A transfer moves management of an existing domain to another registrar; it does not create a new name or automatically move the website and email.

Treat the domain, DNS, website and email as connected but separate

A registrar transfer changes who manages the domain registration. It does not automatically copy website files, databases or mailboxes. DNS records connect those services, so record the current zone and lower time-to-live values only when a planned change requires it.

Can the domain and hosting use different providers?

Yes. DNS can point the website and email to services operated elsewhere. Keep account ownership, renewal and DNS responsibilities documented.

Does changing nameservers move email?

No. Nameserver changes replace the authoritative DNS source. Recreate and verify mail-related MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records before switching.
